FESA has been selected to carry out the urban improvement works at the Virgen de África Industrial Estate, a long-standing demand from local residents in this area of Ceuta. The intervention responds to the need to update and adapt public spaces to current standards.

The project focuses on improving accessibility, mobility and the overall condition of the urban environment, addressing roads, pavements and shared spaces that showed functional and usability deficiencies.

Phased intervention with a focus on accessibility

The works have been planned in a sector-based manner, distinguishing different intervention areas in order to optimise execution and minimise disruption during the works.

The main actions planned include:

  • Reorganisation of roads and traffic areas.

  • Improvement of pedestrian routes and removal of architectural barriers.

  • Renewal of deteriorated paving.

  • Adaptation of pavements and public areas to ensure safer and more comfortable use.

  • Partial reorganisation of existing urban infrastructure.

The objective is clear: to improve mobility, enhance road safety and promote more efficient and accessible use of public space by residents.

A project with direct impact on the local community

The intervention is based on a needs assessment report submitted by the neighbourhood association of the Virgen de África Industrial Estate, which detailed the main shortcomings of the area. Based on this diagnosis, the project has been designed to address real issues related to accessibility, functionality and urban maintenance.

The project also includes improvements to urban furniture and the adaptation of everyday-use areas, contributing to a progressive enhancement of public spaces and the residential environment.

Commitment from our Ceuta office

The execution of this project reinforces FESA’s commitment to the city of Ceuta, where we have our own local office and in-depth knowledge of the urban, social and technical context. This proximity enables us to approach each intervention with a clear understanding of real needs and effective coordination with all stakeholders involved.

An intervention aligned with FESA’s strategic service areas

This project falls within one of FESA’s key strategic service areas: planning and development of urban, residential and industrial spaces. In this field, we deliver projects aimed at improving the functionality, accessibility and sustainability of the built environment.
